Main Focus Areas

We are currently seeking a Group Pharmacy Manager to play a key leadership role in advancing our pharmacy operations, enhancing clinical quality, and driving long-term sustainability across our network. Key Performance Areas: (include but are not limited to)

The successful incumbent will be accountable to the Head of Operations with a dotted line to the Chief Commercial Officer and will oversee the supply chain management and pharma procurement. The successful employee should perform, inter alia, the following key performance areas: Strategy Execution: ▪ Define and execute the pharmacy strategy, including shaping, enabling and integrating new approaches or systems ▪ Integrates across teams, processes and organisational layers Strategic input, innovation and enablement: ▪ Translate Lenmed’s vision into strategic objectives for the Pharmacy department ▪ Provide necessary tools and resources to support Pharmacy Managers to achieve their targets ▪ Engage with Head Office Exco and Group Managers to provide input into, understand and drive group strategic initiatives and projects ▪ Display understanding of the key issues and risks driving business success from a Pharmacy perspective and make suggestions on how to address identified risks ▪ Develop and enhance frameworks, policies and procedures to ensure consistent implementation from an operational perspective Internal Internal and External Stakeholder Engagement: ▪ Build strong relationships with Group and Hospital Managers to obtain necessary information and provide meaningful analysis and insights ▪ Identify opportunities to leverage relationships and share knowledge ▪ Represent the function at relevant internal and external forums / committees as required Pharmacy Procurement: ▪ Analyse group pharmacy data to identify potential growth areas ▪ Negotiate supplier agreements; where supplier agreements are not place, go out to tender ▪ Prepare tender documents, including analysing tender information and submitting for Exco approval ▪ Scope the conversion process and communicate changes to hospital teams ▪ Assess monthly performance in terms of overall formulary and preferred supplier targets and advise on corrective actions to Hospital Manager where necessary Financial controls and efficiencies: ▪ Develop, implement and maintain approved stock control policies impacting cycle counts and formal stock-take processes ▪ Drive target achievement in terms of stock management including stock days, stock-onhand, dead stock management and stock write-offs Quality and clinical management: ▪ Identify industry best practice clinical governance frameworks ▪ Develop and socialise Terms of Reference, policies and reporting templates for various committees, e.g. PTC (Pharmaceutics and Therapeutics Committee) and AMS (Anti Microbial Stewardship) and the hospital’s Incident Management system ▪ Review monthly pharmacy clinical reports ▪ Compile and present a group pharmacy clinical report Resourcing, training and development: ▪ Ensure Pharmacists are given ongoing opportunities to develop their clinical, financial and managerial competence ▪ For pharmacy staff, identify potential to develop within the pharmacy structures Management of adherence to regulatory, compliance and risk requirements : ▪ Advise Exco and Hospital Mancos on the various risks associated with the hospital pharmacies (e.g. reputational risk, financial risk, operational risk, clinical risk, political risk, environmental risks, etc) with recommendations on how to avert these ▪ Implement risk management, governance and compliance policies and activities, including internal and external audits ▪ Maintain regulatory requirements mandated by relevant regulatory bodies

Team leadership, management and mentoring:

▪ Lead by example in driving Lenmed’s values and vision ▪ Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports, focusing on all aspects of sound people management: recruitment, development, performance management, remuneration and rewards, career path planning and transformation ▪ Define performance contracts for staff members, monitoring their performance against agreed objectives and work with them to grow their skills and confidence where needed

Post Requirements: (include but are not limited to)

Minimum Required Education: ▪ B Pharm and/or relevant commercial tertiary qualification ▪ Must be a registered pharmacist Inherent Requirements: ▪ Experience in the listed sector is advantageous and preferred ▪ Minimum 5 years’ experience within a Senior role essential. ▪ Previous Group Pharmacy Management experience preferred ▪ Must be a registered pharmacist to understand the dynamics of pharmaceuticals and the legislation impacting the pharmaceutical industry ▪ Well-developed business, commercial and financial acumen with strong budget and financial management skills ▪ Knowledge of various pharmacy systems and how these inter-relate ▪ Knowledge of industry norms and best practices ▪ SAP/ERP/SAP MM Systems advantageous ▪ Private Healthcare experience is essential If you are passionate about making a meaningful difference in healthcare and meet the requirements for this critical leadership role, we invite you to bring your expertise, your heart, and your commitment to excellence to Lenmed.
